Narratives of Change

Narratives are the stories we create to understand and make sense of the world around us, specifically in turning (scientific) observations and projections into meaningful information. Stories can be forward-looking, future narratives, or backward-looking, historical narratives. Narratives are also shared realities and help people connect and interact with one another.

Stories are how individuals connect to collective memories and incorporate them into embodied and societal realities. Narratives of change specifically concern themselves with how change is facilitated or hindered and the different modes of storytelling that can be used depending on the state of transition. Narratives of change are a popular tool to involve local people and non-experts in transformational processes.
